The sun had risen at Deer Lodge Park along the Yampa River at the entrance to Dinosaur National Monument. The high waters lapped at the river’s bank at the edge of the meadow. The sun’s morning light was filtered and softened by high striated Cirrus clouds. The air was heavy with due. The quiet welcomed. I moved around the grove observing the light, fresh canopy of new leaves and stark forms of the trees’ trunks rising from the grassy meadow.
